Born in Pagani, in the province of Salerno, Letizia Caiazzo embodies the rare union of resilience, intellect, and artistic grace. The daughter of Francesco Saverio Caiazzo, a veterinarian from Angri, and Maria Tortora, a cultured and determined homemaker, she inherited from her mother both strength and a profound sense of purpose. When tragedy struck early in her life, leaving her mother widowed with three children, the family’s quiet courage became the foundation of Letizia’s inner world — one shaped by empathy, endurance, and an unwavering pursuit of beauty.

Educated first in Angri and later in Naples, Letizia distinguished herself through her intellectual curiosity and social consciousness. With degrees in education and social service, she devoted herself to teaching with remarkable dedication, viewing education not merely as a profession but as a sacred act of human transformation. For her, to educate was to awaken — to instill in her students a love for learning, the courage to face adversity, and the authenticity to “be, not to appear.” Her pioneering initiatives, such as School-Family, bridged the gap between home and classroom, creating spaces for dialogue on psychological and relational well-being long before such discussions became commonplace in Italian schools.

Her creative path, however, was always intertwined with her teaching. What began as a childhood love for drawing and painting evolved, over time, into a profound artistic calling. Upon retirement, Letizia returned to art with renewed passion — exploring both traditional and digital media. Her digital compositions, born from her early engagement with technology as an art educator, opened new frontiers of visual expression. She has since exhibited extensively in Italy and abroad, earning both critical acclaim and heartfelt recognition from peers and audiences alike.

The founding of Ars Mundi and later Ars Harmonia Mundi marked a new era in her journey — a testament to her vision of art as a bridge between souls and cultures. As curator and artistic director, she has brought to life numerous influential projects, including Emozioni a Confronto, Un Verso, Un Caffè, Compiuta Donzella, and Art Meets the People — initiatives that celebrate creativity as a living dialogue rather than a solitary act. Her collaborations with journals such as Rivista20, F.S.M., and Millennium further expanded her presence as a writer and critic, her voice resonating across both the literary and visual arts.

A celebrated poet as well as an artist, she has authored twelve volumes — lyrical explorations of feeling and form that mirror her own evolution. Following the passing of her beloved husband, Flavio Colamusso, in 2020, her artistic expression deepened into meditation. Through the language of haiku, she released Sul filo di un feeling, a collection that garnered the International Prize of the Writers Capital Foundation, reaffirming her place among Italy’s contemporary literary voices.

Her solo exhibition Digito Ergo Sum, hosted by the Municipality and Foundation of Sorrento at Villa Fiorentino, further established her as a pioneer in the field of digital art. Each of her creations — whether word or image — carries the same timeless message: that beauty, when shared, becomes a force of healing and renewal.

Today, Letizia Caiazzo lives and works in Piano di Sorrento. Ever-evolving, ever-curious, she continues to create and inspire — her art a luminous testament to the transformative power of love, culture, and the enduring human spirit.
