Dimitris Karousis, born in Athens, Greece, is a poet whose deep connection with the sea, human experience, and social consciousness has shaped his literary journey. From an early age, he exhibited a profound love for poetry and literature, yet the political turmoil of Greece’s dictatorship and the challenges of survival kept his creative spirit subdued. However, his passion never faded, and over the years, it found its way into powerful and evocative poetic expressions.

A graduate of the 2nd Financial High School of Athens and the School of Maritime Studies in Piraeus, Dimitris has always been drawn to the open sea, a fascination that would later become a defining motif in his poetry. He served in the Navy, reinforcing his bond with the vastness of the ocean, and later pursued economics studies in Manchester, England. His professional life saw him take on roles in various private companies in Greece and abroad, yet literature remained his soul’s true calling.

Dimitris’s life experiences, resilience, and devotion to his three sons, whom he raised alone after the untimely loss of his wife, further enriched his poetic perspective. His works encapsulate themes of love, struggle, nature, and the eternal dialogue between humanity and the sea, earning him a distinguished place in contemporary Greek literature.
