Born in the serene village of Chettikulangara in Alappuzha, Kerala, Chithra Jyothi (Saphy M S) embodies the timeless dialogue between nature and creation. Her journey as an artist began in a home where art was not merely an adornment but a way of seeing the world — a quiet inheritance from her uncle, Artist Krishnan Pattoor, who introduced her to the essence of form and feeling. Under his tender guidance, the seeds of artistic contemplation were sown early.
She later continued her learning under Artist Kochukutty, deepening her technical and emotional understanding of color, rhythm, and line. These formative experiences led her to the Govt. Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Kerala — an institution synonymous with Indian artistic legacy — where she completed her five-year National Diploma, refining her mastery over medium and movement.
Over the years, Chithra Jyothi has evolved into both artist and educator, sharing her vision through workshops, art camps, and exhibitions. Her works have graced distinguished venues, including the Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2021 and 2025), where her paintings were received with deep admiration for their lyrical depth and spiritual undertones. Beyond her canvases, she has imparted artistic wisdom as a Guest Lecturer (Art Instructor) at the Govt. Engineering College, Thiruvananthapuram, and continues her pedagogical calling as an Art Tutor at Holy Trinity Vidyabhavan, Karthikappally, nurturing the next generation of dreamers and creators.
Artistic Philosophy
For Chithra Jyothi, art is not an act of depiction but of devotion. It is a meditative dialogue between the inner self and the living world — an ongoing search for the divine pulse that animates all things.
She believes that the aesthetics of life and art are inseparable, each flowing into the other like light into water. Her paintings are living reflections of that belief — gentle yet powerful, grounded yet transcendental. Inspired by the beauty of nature, the tenderness of family, and the quiet dignity of community, her art invites contemplation rather than proclamation.
For her, success is not measured in fame or fortune but in the joy her work kindles in another soul — a joy that bridges human emotion with cosmic harmony.

Title: H₂O = Life
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 36 × 96 inches
In H₂O = Life, Chithra Jyothi (Saphy M S) renders the eternal truth that sustains the world — that water is not simply matter, but memory.
The composition unfurls like a quiet revelation: interlacing branches weave through the canvas like veins of time, where the withered leaves of yesterday meet the tender sprouts of tomorrow. The background shifts in a chromatic symphony — amber and gold dissolve into tranquil blues and luminous greens, echoing the rhythmic exchange between decay and renewal.
There is no turbulence here; only a sacred stillness, as though nature pauses to listen to its own breath. Each line, each transition of light, carries an unspoken truth — that creation and dissolution are not opposites but partners in the eternal dance of existence.
Through this monumental work, Chithra Jyothi captures the ineffable — the moment where life becomes its own metaphor. The viewer is drawn inward, into a state of contemplation, sensing the delicate equilibrium between fragility and resilience.
